KAWAII TILL YOU DIE, or KTYD for short, is the vehicle for the creation and curation of a new subculture style. After years of actively searching for existing styles and groups of creators, I never found that certain thing that I always knew was the sweet intersection between all the great stuff I grew up on as a kid and fell in love with. I could always feel that strange world just out of reach, where everything separate and awesome that I was obsessed with could freely mingle and mix together without clashing or being questioned. Mecha, skateboarding, urban street life, pop art, cyberpunk, traditional japanese art, punk/metal, comics, and other lowbrow bullshit all had their place in a harmonious world where things existed solely because they were rad and deserved to be celebrated together for the common bond of being sources of independent thought, creativity, and exploration.
Of course there are many artists and designers out there who understand these styles and are doing their own interpretations, but it was my goal to create a force that transcended any single individual's efforts to build that world, and create a family of thinkers and creators who could actively work together in bringing about a new point of view on an art scene that is still very ambiguous and malleable. A perspective and tangible point of reflection on this culture, defined by a group of key players who are both the fans as well as the creators.
So I invite you to join along in this journey as a fan/supporter/patron/creator/whatever, out of love for this unique intersection of cultures that will continue to grow and evolve as their own force over time.
We keep it kawaii till we die
